The Board’s strategy is to promote the success of the Group for the benefit of its shareholders and other stakeholders through its focus on water and sewerage services, recycling, waste management and renewable energy.
Delivering operational excellence in the form of industry-leading drinking and bathing water quality; and low leakage figures, are key environmental and social achievements for South West Water. Viridor’s growing recycling and energy recovery operations, alongside its focus on proactive environmental management systems and responsible land stewardship, clearly demonstrate how embracing the green agenda has been good for business.
Sustainability (formerly Corporate Responsibility) Committee
The Pennon Group Sustainability Committee is chaired by Dinah Nichols, a Pennon Group Non-executive Director. The two other Pennon Group Non-executive Directors are also members as well as the Chief Executives of South West Water and Viridor.
Pennon Group operates environmentally sensitive and sustainable businesses and the Board monitors the Group’s performance on environmental, societal, workplace and governance matters through its Corporate Responsibility Committee.
The Corporate Responsibility Committee reviews the strategies, policies, management, initiatives, targets and performance of the Pennon Group of companies in the areas of occupational health and safety and security, the environment, the workplace, corporate policies, non-financial regulatory compliance and the role of the Group in society.
