Pennon achieves Fair Tax Mark for the eighth consecutive year

28 Oct 2025

Pennon has once again been recognised for its commitment to responsible tax practices, receiving the Fair Tax Mark for the eighth consecutive year – making it the only water-based business in the UK to hold the accreditation for this long.

The Fair Tax Mark, awarded by the independent Fair Tax Foundation, recognises organisations that pay the right amount of corporation tax at the right time and in the right place.

It celebrates businesses that are transparent about their tax affairs and demonstrate a genuine commitment to responsible tax conduct.

By retaining the accreditation, Pennon has reaffirmed its position as a leader in ethical and transparent business practices across the UK utilities sector.

This achievement highlights Pennon’s broader commitment to sustainability and accountability, as part of its purpose to deliver sustainable growth that benefits customers, communities, and the environment.

Jaime Boswell, Head of Accreditation, Fair Tax Foundation, added: “We’re delighted to see Pennon Group plc achieve re-certification with the Fair Tax Mark. Their comprehensive public Tax Strategy report demonstrates their commitment to transparency and responsible tax conduct and is a fantastic example of how large businesses can build public trust by being open about the tax they pay and why.”

Pennon first achieved the Fair Tax Mark in 2018 and has since continued to meet the Foundation’s rigorous standards each year. The company publishes detailed, accessible tax disclosures as part of its annual reporting and maintains an open approach to explaining its tax strategy and contributions.

This year’s accreditation comes as Pennon continues to invest in resilient water infrastructure, green innovation, and community initiatives, demonstrating that responsible business is at the heart of everything it does.

About the Fair Tax Mark

The Fair Tax Foundation was launched in 2014 and operates as a not-for-profit social enterprise. The Fair Tax Foundation believes that companies paying tax responsibly should be recognised and celebrated; and any global race to the bottom on tax competition should be resisted. Tax contributions are a vital part of the broader social and economic contribution made by businesses, helping the communities in which they operate to deliver valuable public services and build infrastructure that paves the way for growth.
